Obama Needs Your Help

I've been seeing a lot of talk lately about how Hillary has already lost, she just doesn't know it yet. It's not over and unless people start taking action and making waves Obama supporters are in for a rude awakening.

The problem is that Hillary doesn't need to catch up to Obama in delegates to get to the White House. In fact, she's got plans nested in plans, and they're all quite good. In fact, if nothing changes then one of them is bound to work.

Let's begin with the fact that the Clinton campaign is strong-arming superdelegates. Many assume incorrectly that the superdelegates will vote whichever way the popular vote goes but while that may be true for many it's simply not the case in general. They can vote for whomever they please and Hillary's two pronged attack on the superdelegates has some winning potential.

First off, she's threatening and cajoling some of them behind closed doors, trying to make political alliances through giving or withholding political favors. Secondly, while she knows she can't pull ahead of Obama in delegates what she can do is edge closer to him and then claim: 1) it's so close that it's really a coin toss and 2) she's got the better chance of beating McCain in November so the remaining superdelegates should tilt the scales in her favor.

But even if that doesn't work she's already laid the groundwork for a Vice-Presidency. The longer she pushes this issue the deeper the divide will be within the Democratic party and ultimately even if she doesn't win the nomination they may decide Obama won't have a chance to win without Hillary on the ticket as Vice President. They might try to force her on him, whether he likes it or not.

Barack ObamaOf course, many of Obama's supporters know how strongly he feels about getting rid of the old guard and cleaning up the way Washington is run. Adding Clinton to the ticket is against much of what he stands for, but it may be his only way to win. If he chooses winning over his ideals then Hillary wins, but if he chooses ideals over winning then Hillary also wins, because she'll run again in 2012 — and Baraq will be in a much weaker position if he already was the nominee and failed to win the election — especially this one.

Many people don't think it will come to that. They don't think this will fracture the Democratic party to that extent, but that's because they really don't get Hillary supporters. If they understood, they would be quite a bit more concerned.

The latest poll figures show 19% of Obama supporters would actually vote McCain if Hillary was the nominee. No surprise, there's a lot to despise about that woman. She lied about everything from her involvement in getting NAFTA passed to her foreign policy experience in Bosnia.

Yet, despite the fact that the worst thing anyone has said about Senator Obama was that he didn't have enough experience, or that he didn't "exercise good judgement" for not switching Churches every time a Reverend said something he disagreed with — despite the fact that there is literally nothing to hate about the man himself and that his policies are 95% in alignment with Hillary's the fact is that 28% of Hillary supporters said they would vote for McCain if Obama was the nominee.

Why? Well you have to understand Hillary supporters. They idolize her as a modern woman, someone who's had it rough and battled through. Bill Richardson wasn't just blowing smoke when he said he was uncomfortable with many of the people surrounding the Clinton campaign having a "feeling of entitlement" to the Presidency. Many of these people literally despise Barack Obama simply for "stealing" Hillary's moment. This was her election, this is supposed to be her Presidency, and how dare he get in her way.

So the divide is there, it's real and it's only going to get worse as time goes on.

The worst part is that Hillary manages to maintain this spell on people despite how transparent she is upon any close inspection. When Obama distributed flyers telling voters the actual truth about Hillary's involvement with NAFTA, she publicly said, "Shame on you, Barack Obama" and claimed he misrepresented her, which wasn't true at all but since that seemed to be the end of the story most people got left with the idea that Obama was in the wrong, and poor Hillary.

When Obama released his tax returns and urged Senator Clinton to do the same she said she was working on it (has her copy machine been broken for the last three months? She can use mine…) but questioned why Obama hadn't released several other documents. Of course, the people paying close attention were thinking, "Huh? You didn't even release anything yet!" but the rest of the country was thinking, "Yeah… why didn't he release… whatever that is? Is he hiding something?"

Hillary is undeniably a master of political smoke and mirrors. With the Bosnian account she said she "misspoke" — and somehow, despite the fact that she repeated this story at least three different stops on her campaign trail and despite the fact that she defended it upon questioning ("Now, that is what happened.") and continued to stand by it when Sinbad said that wasn't what happened — despite the fact that she told the same lie at least five times and only recanted when confronted with absolute proof, she simply claims she "misspoke" and the media (and the American people) seem to have given her a pass.

She even turned it around on us, saying she's "only human" — as if it's our fault for setting our expectations too high. Heaven forbid we should ask for a candidate to be truthful about her past record and about her qualifications to be President of the United States. More recently she blamed the "misstatements" on sleep deprivation from the campaign trail. The irony seems to have been lost on the majority of Americans who were wondering which candidate we want answering the White House phone at 3am.

Ultimately, Hillary has given us more than enough to turn public opinion against her. People just need a chance to see behind the smoke and mirrors and realize they're being had. What we need to do is educate anyone and everyone, far and wide, by showing them the video clips and driving home the fact that this woman thinks we're all idiots.

If you have a blog, write about this for your readers. Call into radio shows, call Fox News and CNN and ask them why they aren't playing footage of the Presidential candidate lying about her qualifications to be President. Send those video clips to everyone you know. In order for Obama to be free to win this election on his own terms, Hillary needs to drop out of the race or have her public opinion drop so low that she's unelectable.

Everything we need to derail her campaign is right in front of us, but if we don't get people to look a little deeper and see the real Hillary then she's going to find a way into the White House one way or another. And in my humble opinion, the only way that woman ever deserves to see the inside of the White House again is with a tour group.
