Spreading Democracy to the Middle-West
This election is a joke. Every election is a joke. The Republicans and Democrats make a farce of Democracy and we're letting them. Either you vote for one of them or you stay home, am I right? New plan: Vote Libertarian. It's the only third party that doesn't consistantly back one of the major party candidates (ahh… HELLO, "Green" party?) and it stands for what many Americans would consider the perfect ideal: Liberty for all.
Of course, they take it to the extreme but they're not going to win anyway, and if one or two did get elected this country would be a better place. So vote Libertarian because at the very least maybe we can scare the Democrats and Republicans into delivering candidates that are worth voting for and at worst we'll elect a few people who are serious about democracy and liberty, and most important: They don't pander to lazy people.
Think about it, Republicans used to be about small government and fiscal responsibility. These days their primary platform is pandering to laxy intellectuals, or as I like to call them, "Religious Fundementalists" thoughout the south and the mid-west. These people can't be bothered to understand science because it's just so much easier for them, mentally and emotionally, to go with the easy answer: It's Magic! I mean… ummm… God did it!
To these people it's completely unreasonable to suggest that evolution and God are not enemies, that they can in fact be tied together, because that would require too much thinking. It's much easier to believe the earth is 5,000 years old and that the Grand Canyon is the result of Noah's 40-day flood because they don't have to use their brains. Rather than discourage this stupidity, the Republican party thrives on it and encourages the spread of it because it means more votes for them.
But, ohhh… the Democrats. They have long been guilty of unintentionally pandering to the lazy (e.g. welfare) with good intentions but they've gone too far in their attempts to market themselves recently. Hillary Clinton's attack on "Grand Theft Auto" and other democrat initiatives (see: Tipper Gore) simultaneously absolve lazy parents from their responsibility to properly raise their children and attack freedom of speech through their attempts to regulate and censor sects of the media.
Of course, Clinton's opponent in the New York Senate "race" is running on a platform on six major issues, which includes his opposition to gay marriage. Apparently when compiling a list of the top six things he wants to do to make this country better, denying equal rights to a subsect of U.S. citizens was number 4. With candidates like these, no wonder voter turnout in the U.S. is so low.
But there's still time! Go to the polls now and vote Libertarian. If you protest by not voting that's the same as voting for whoever wins. Use your vote to make any small statement you can. This country deserves better public "servants" and as a citizen of the United States of Amercia it is your responsibility to do your part, however miniscule, to try to steer this country away from the idiots who are currently running it.
